Pride Alliance:

The Skidmore Pride Alliance is committed to creating a fair and safe forum for discussion and to aiding the queer community at Skidmore College.  In addition, the Pride Alliance is committed to raising awareness, outreach, and understanding issues pertaining to sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity/expression at Skidmore and in the community at large.  Pride welcomes people from all backgrounds, and does not discriminate based on real or perceived sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, ethnicity, race, religion, ability, or age.  Pride not only encourages lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and queer-identified people to attend meetings, but we also welcome those who identify as straight/heterosexual to join us.  We host social events, run ally trainings, and sponsor speakers. As a Skidmore student association, Pride has over 100 members and is always doing something on or off campus!

Bare:

Bare, Skidmore's premier art and literary sex publication and open forum, functions as an outlet and safe space for talking about, writing about, and making art about gender and sexuality.  We believe in the importance of personal sharing in weekly open discussions as well as community outreach in the form of a bi-weekly zine and annual publication. Both of these address issues such as sexual and gender orientation and identity, sexual misconduct and consent, enjoyment of safe sex, and the hook-up culture.  Founded in Fall of 2009, Bare has a large number of members and has had an impact on Skidmore's discourse around issues of sex and sexuality.  Learn more at our blog: http://skidmorebare.wordpress.com/.

Feminist Action Network (FAN):

The purpose of the Feminist Action Network (FAN) is to encourage the awareness of, interest in, and action toward the social, political, and intellectual concerns of feminism. Each year, we play a large role in engaging the community in events that can hopefully spark progressive and intriguing conversation. These events include the Gender Equity Bake Sale, Sex Toy Bingo, This is What a Feminist Looks like Day, and perhaps most importantly, the Vagina Monologues. We also co-sponsor with other clubs whose goals are relevant to our message in an attempt to spread more widely the course of our conversation.

Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood

Is a nationwide program that mobilizes college students across the country to raise public awareness about reproductive health and rights, to educate young people about sexual health, to work with and support their local Planned Parenthood health centers, and to become advocates of reproductive rights. Skidmore VOX aims to educate and inspire a new generation of young adults to fulfill these goals.
